Ilana Scharoun, MA Candidate
I am currently accepting Green Mountain Care (Vermont Medicaid) enrolled youth, adolescents and adult clients ages 6 and up for nature-based therapy in the Waterbury/Stowe area, as well as, telehealth for Vermont residents.
I work with individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, grief, and postpartum experiences. I’m especially drawn to clients who are curious about their inner lives and are seeking a grounded, compassionate space to explore their thoughts and emotions. My strengths include creating a calm, nonjudgmental presence, helping clients build awareness of their internal experiences, and integrating nature as a supportive tool in the healing process.
I am a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, currently working under the supervision of Maxwell and Abby. I’m excited to be part of this nature-based practice and to connect with others through this work.
I bring over a decade of experience supporting individuals with chronic, long-term mental illness in both hospital step-down and crisis settings. My background includes managing a hospital diversion and alcohol detox program, where I developed strong clinical and crisis management skills.
Outside of work, I find joy in movement, dance, music, hiking, time in the water, and the ongoing growth that comes with being a mother.
Maddie Clark, MSW
I am currently accepting clients aged 14 and up for nature-based therapy, including walk-and-talk and flatwater kayaking sessions, in the Hardwick and St. Johnsbury areas. I am also able to offer telehealth sessions for Vermont residents. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients and those who identify as trans, queer, and gender diverse, as well as individuals who are navigating substance use concerns, anxiety and depression, and trauma.
As your therapist, I will create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgemental space for you to be yourself and to feel comfortable sharing anything that you feel is necessary for me to best understand your unique reality. I see you as the expert in your life, and it will be a privilege to walk beside you on your journey to heal, get un-stuck, find yourself, or drop or moderate certain habits, while we also examine, hone, and illuminate your skills, strengths, and values, to be the version of yourself that you desire most to be.
I utilize an array of therapeutic tools, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Approaches, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and nature-based therapy. There may also be times that we find meditation or the use of music to be valuable additions to our work together. My practice is sex- and kink- positive, and I pair well with artists, musicians, makers, and other creatives. I believe that a holistic and multi-faceted approach to healing and change is paramount and that we can use this knowledge to meet your goals.
Zander Goodwin, MS, CMHC
I am currently accepting adolescent and adult clients aged 12 and up for in-person, nature-based counseling in the Essex and Williston areas, as well as telehealth for Vermont residents.
I enjoy working with clients who are experiencing life transitions, interpersonal conflict, exploring identity, or looking for tangible strategies for navigating anxiety and depression. As a queer and trans person myself, I have a particular passion for working with LGBTQ+ individuals.
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's degree in Outdoor Education. I believe that nature-based counseling offers a unique space to explore the connection between our inner environments and the environments around us. My practice is grounded in a person-centered and trauma-informed approach that draws upon various modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Based Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. A guiding principle of my practice is that each client already possesses the inner drive and ability to create the life that they want. As a therapist, my job is to help guide and support you along that path and tackle any obstacles that arise. Every client is unique - together we can work to find an approach that works for you.
I bring a sense of curiosity, acceptance, and humor to my sessions with a relaxed and patient energy. I tend to match well with clients who appreciate a more conversational and straightforward approach to therapy.
Sage Narbonne MS, LCMHC
I am currently accepting adult clients for nature-based therapy in the Richmond/Jericho area, as well as, telehealth for Vermont residents.
My primary goals are to help you feel deeply seen and understood in therapy, and to support you in feeling more empowered to live the life that you want. I bring deep curiosity, validation, humor, somatic attunement, acceptance, and compassionate reflections to my sessions. Doing therapy in nature offers an innate space for healing of the human mind, body, and spirit. If you are feeling anxious and stuck in life or burnt out and exhausted, and you aren’t sure how to feel like yourself again, I think I can help.
My approach is social justice oriented and trauma informed, and is integrative of various modalities of therapy (DBT, ACT, Somatic, Feminist, etc.). I have experience working with diverse mental health related concerns including: depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, body image struggles, interpersonal challenges, grief, and more. Some of my particular interests are in healing generational trauma, and supporting people in becoming more connected with their body through mindfulness, movement, and nourishment in many forms.

Ashley Cummings, MA
I am currently accepting adolescent, youth, and adult clients ages 6 and up for nature-based therapy in the Barre/Montpelier area, and telehealth for Vermont residents. I'm a clinical mental health therapist who works with children and adults navigating life's complexities with curiosity and care. I specialize in supporting neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and I have a deep interest and experience in working with those living with chronic health conditions and chronic illness.
My clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected—from themselves, from others, or from a sense of purpose. They may be struggling with depression, burnout, difficulty speaking up for their needs, or the challenge of balancing self-care with everything else life demands.
In our work together, we’ll explore how your body, mind, and spirit are interconnected. We might slow down and listen to the messages your body is sending, reconnect with creativity and movement, or explore the impact of stress on your well-being. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and nature-based therapy.
Whether you're looking to better manage anxiety, express yourself more freely, rediscover joy, or simply get through the day with more ease—you're not alone. Together, we’ll work toward meaningful change that honors your values and your unique path. If this resonates with you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
Maxwell Duquette, MSW
I have a limited number of openings for in person nature centered therapy in the Waterbury/Stowe area and am prioritizing couples and families.
My practice is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment therapy. I believe we all have the ability to create more satisfying and fulfilling lives.
I work with individuals, couples and families in the areas of professional growth, substance use, AD(H)D as well as anxiety and depression.
In my one-on-one work, I often hold walk-and-talk sessions centered on exploring values, goals, fulfillment, and choice. Together, we focus on letting go of unhelpful thoughts and behaviors while practicing mindfulness skills and taking meaningful actions that foster greater satisfaction.
In my work with families and couples I rely on a systems approach. We will explore relationships, dynamics, shared values and goals. We will, with kindness and curiosity, explore the patterns assumptions and expectations causing tension.
I believe the real work of therapy happens in-between sessions when we are experimenting with the skills and practices. I tend to match well with folks seeking a pragmatic plain-spoken approach to talk therapy.
